SCHOOLWIDE INFORMATION

Students are not to open the doors of the school even if they know the person trying to get in. Only faculty and staff are permitted to open the door.

Dr. Pepper Football Contest:  Collect bottle caps from Dr. Pepper products and turn them in here at the high school from August 1st –December 14th.  The top 3 schools will win a prize!  $10,000 for 1st place, $5,000 for 2nd place, and $2,500 for 3rd place.

Martin Motor Company and Weakley County Farm Bureau Agents are sponsoring a Drive for Attendance Program this year for 9th-12th grade Weakley County high school students.  Martin Motor Company will be giving away a car and TN Farm Bureau will be giving away free gas and insurance for a year to a Weakley County student who exhibits good behavior and good attendance. In order to eligible to have your name entered in the competition, students must have good behavior and perfect attendance for a six weeks.  Students can be entered in the drawing for each six weeks that they meet the eligibility requirements, up to six times this year. Five names from each high school pool of names will be drawn in May to progress to the big drawing for one winner.  We would like to thank Martin Motor Company and TN Farm Bureau for sponsoring the Drive for Attendance Program.

An ACT Boot Camp will be held at UTM this fall.  The class will meet from 8 a.m.-Noon on Saturday.  The cost of the boot camp is $45.  The camp will be offered on three different Saturdays, August 25th, October 20th and December 1st.  Interested students can register and pay online at http://www.utm.edu/departments/nondegree/courses/children/actprep.php.  

 

All juniors will be attending College Connection Day at UTM on Thursday, September 13th.    We will be leaving at approximately 8:00 and returning at approximately 2:25. Students will report to 1st period class for roll call. Juniors will be eating lunch at UTM.  The cost of the lunch is $5.00.  Juniors need to give their $5.00 for lunch to their US History teacher, Ms. Bowman or Ms. Smith by Monday, September 10th.

SENIOR INFORMATION 

Dresden High School will host a very important Senior Parent and Senior Student Meeting on Monday, September 10th at 5:30 in the afternoon.  The meeting will be held in the Little Theater at Dresden High School.  The meeting will cover information concerning graduation requirements, testing, attendance, college and technical school admissions as well as all types of financial aid including but not limited to scholarships, grants, loans, and work study.  Information on the Tennessee Education Lottery (Hope) Scholarship Program and Tennessee Promise as well as information about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be discussed. The information presented will be applicable for students planning to attend any college or technical school.  All seniors and their parents are strongly encouraged to attend.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS

FCCLA:  Any student that has taken a Family and Consumer sciences class is eligible to join FCCLA.  See Mrs. Phillips by Sept. 10.  The cost to join is $20!  This includes a free t-shirt!

Any FCCLA student wanting to help sale pumpkins and mums please see Mrs. Phillips for a sales form. Money you earn from your sales as profit goes toward your trips in FCCLA.

Pumpkin/mum sales will go from Sept. 4-13. Pick up of the pumpkins and mums will be Sept. 20 at DHS from 3-5pm during parent teacher conference.

 Any FCCLA student wanting to order a red FCCLA quarter zip see Mrs. Phillips by Sept. 15.

 

HOSA:    HOSA dues are $20.00 and are due September 21, 2018.  See Mrs. Coleman in room 107 if any questions.

There will be a Voluntary  HOSA MEETING( after school) TO DESIGN T-SHIRTS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2018 IN Mrs. Coleman/Wilkins Rm 107 3-4pm.  SUBMIT A DESIGN BY DIRECTED STUDIES September 4, 2018 (IF UNABLE TO ATTEND MEETING.)  SEE Mrs. Coleman/Wilkins’ Door Rm 107 for other NEWS!

BETA:  The DHS Beta Club Homecoming Game Bake Sale will take place Friday night at the Dresden vs. West Carroll football game. All Beta club members are asked to bring a baked good to sell at the game (individually wrapped baked goods to be sold for $1) or sign up to work service hours during the game. A sign-up sheet is located outside of the office on the Beta board.

Community News  

 

“Mums the Word:” The Dresden Rotary Club is taking orders for the annual mum sale.  They will be available for pick up at Simmons Bank on September 21.  There are order forms on the board outside of the main office.

 

There will be a junior parent meeting on September 18th at 6:00 pm at City Hall.
